What RosaCue does with your data
The short version: entries, notes and photographs are stored only on your phone. There is no account and no cloud database. The sections below set out exactly what that means, including the one optional request that leaves the device.
1. What we collect
Everything you log — daily severity, symptoms, triggers, flares, notes, products, treatment events, and photos — is stored only on your device (AsyncStorage and the app Documents directory). There is no user account, no email, and no advertising identifier.
2. What leaves the device
If you tap Explain this in plain language on an insight, the app sends only derived statistics that the on-device engine already computed (variable label, effect size, sample size, counter-examples, and similar numbers). Raw logs, notes, and photos are never uploaded.
That request goes to a small rewrite service you configure (EXPO_PUBLIC_BACKEND_URL). The service returns a cautious plain-language sentence and does not store a user profile.
Only the numbers already computed on your phone — variable label, effect size, sample size and counter-example count — are sent, and only when you tap “Explain this in plain language”.
3. Photos
Photos stay in the app’s private Documents storage. They are not added to your camera roll and are not uploaded. A flare close-up is stored separately from the day’s reference photo.
4. Export and delete
You can export a CSV of your logs from Settings at any time (photo filenames are included; image bytes are not packaged in the MVP export). You can delete all data on the device; that wipe is permanent on this phone.
5. Backup
There is no cloud sync. Whether iCloud backup includes AsyncStorage and the photos directory has not been verified on every iOS version — treat Export my data as the intentional backup path.
6. Not a medical device
This app does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. Patterns it shows are associations in your own log, not proof of cause. Decisions about treatment belong with a qualified clinician.
